The new family member of the new and compact PicoCore™ product family by F&S Elektronik Systeme is based on the successful NXP i.MX 6SoloX ARM® applications processor (AP).
The NXP applications processor (Dual-Core with heterogeneous processor architecture) comes with ARM® Cortex®-A9 core and ARM® Cortex®-M4 core.
NXP continues its heterogeneous concept with Linux on the ARM® Cortex®-A9 core and FreeRTOS on the ARM® Cortex®-M4 core. Both cores (ARM® Cortex®-A9 and -M4) are connected to the internal bus fabric and have the possibility to access all peripherals.
The advantages of the M4 core are real-time processing and the immediate availability of the interfaces after power-on.
PicoCore™MX6SX is offered with SLC NAND Flash or eMMC. EEPROM can also be found on the module. Two 80 poles plug connectors (1,5-4mm board-to-board) enable a large number of interfaces: SD-Card slot, 2x GBit Ethernet, 2x USB, CAN, I2C, SPI, UART, Audio (Line In/Out/Mic/Headphone/I2S) and many more.
A 24bit RGB interface is available for display connection.
The integrated 3D and 2D hardware acceleration offers enough performance for a modern user interface.
The Linux operating system (Kernel 4.9.88/ Buildroot and Yocto) was ported by the experienced F&S Elektronik Systeme software department. Drivers for all interfaces were customized and tested. A virtual machine is ready for download and one can start the development of their own application under Qt immediately.
Along with Secure Boot (signed, encrypted), another optional security chip can be found on the module.
The programming of certificates is also offered as a service.
Windows Embedded Compact is available upon request.
