At the beginning of 2014, F&S Elektronik Systeme introduced its new form factor efus™ (easy – functional – universal – small).
It uses a common 230 pin MXM-2 edge connector, known from Qseven. The pin assignment of this plug connector is based on the EasyLayout concept, where signal lines leading to plug connectors do not cross. A four-layer circuit board is sufficient for the baseboard. For hardware development, the layout data for EAGLE is available for free.
The CPU of efus™A9X offers many acceleration functions for fast picture response, enabling animations and video playback.
efus™A9X is compatible to efus™A9 and offers up to 1 GByte RAM, 1 GByte SLC NAND Flash and 32 GByte eMMC Flash. Available interfaces are 2x Gigabit-Ethernet, 2x USB Host/Device, 2x CAN, 2x I2C, 2x SPI, 4x UART, GPIOs, 2x SD-Card, I2S or AC97 for Audio, PCIe, as well as analog and digital camera.
Displays can be connected via digital RGB and LVDS (up to WXGA). A resistive as well as a capacitive touch controller can be connected via the I2C interface. A WLAN/ BT module with chip antenna or antenna socket can be placed optionally. F&S Elektronik Systeme has performed a radio examination (with chip antenna), involving only little effort for the final radio approval in the user’s system.
Power supply is 5V, the power consumption is 2W (typ.).
Linux (Yocto), WEC2013 as well as WEC7 are offered for efus™A9X. Android is in preparation.
The F&S software department has ported these operating systems on efus™A9X.
