PicoMOD1

Small-sized and low-cost, by means of a preinstalled operating system (Windows CE or embedded Linux), the PicoMOD1 solution and its starter kit makes it possible to begin developing your application very quickly indeed.

Specific skills for writing device drivers and kernel compilations are not required - just unpack the starter kit, connect the cables and power supply, then switch on.

Typical application areas are:-

- Measuring Instruments
- Control Systems
- Embedded Internet
- Serial
- Ethernet
- Thin Client
- Web-Terminals
- Info-Terminals

Please see below for further details.

PicoMOD1 is the first product in a new family of single board computers. This module (80x50 mm) is based on an ARM9 CPU from Samsung and runs at a clock speed of 400 MHz. PicoMOD1 offers 32 MB of Flash memory, 32 MB of RAM memory, interfaces for 3 serial lines, 2 USB (host/device), I2C, I/O, sd-card and ethernet. Additionally it offers the same flexible display interface as all products from F&S. All STN-, CSTN- and TFT- displays with resolutions up to 640x480 can be connected.

PicoMOD1 needs 3,3 V. All signals are located on a single connector with 80 pins. For fast and easy development we provide a complex base-board which is part of the starter-kit (SKIT). Use this kit to check the performance of the CPU and/or check the following interfaces: battery backed up RTC, four/five wire touch controller, LC driving voltage (5-30V), USB-Hub, RS232/485, ethernet, SD card, USB device, I2C, 5 digital I/O and LCD display.

Windows CE 5.0

Continue using your Windows know-how! Build your software with VisualStudio .NET in the languages C++, C#, or VB.NET. Windows CE 5.0, theCompact Framework Use interfaces like I²C in the same way as RS232, without having to deal with the underlying hardware. Configure external interrupts (level/edge) or the display with the F&S configuration tool. With PicoMOD1, Windows CE is just simple. Start now!

Embedded Linux

The BSP contains the bootloader u-Boot with a comfortable LCD-selection, the linux kernel 2.6.11 with LCD drivers, touchpanel, NOR and NAND  flash, ethernet, RTC and audio AC97. Furthermore an initrd with busybox for  loading drivers and an extended target fs in the NAND flash with shell, libc,  numerous utilities, graffical surface nano-X as well as some example programs are part of the delivered package. A modern and comfortable preinstalled cross-toolchain with cross-debugger is also contained.
