Typical ChLCD Polar Graph

o Superior wide-angle viewing is accomplished by the elimination of polarizers, permitting unsurpassed readability at angles approaching the plane of the display. As illustrated by the polar graph to the left, all our ChLCD products have a 360-degree viewing cone. Though the contrast ratio is reduced uniformly in all azimuthal directions as the viewing angle approaches the plane of the display, it is still excellent.

o ChLCDs are manufactured with a highly reflective, bistable cholesteric liquid crystal fluid. Being bistable, these displays can maintain an image without consuming any power, offering an efficient power management display solution. The high reflectivity enhances sunlight readability that exceeds other display technologies. High ambient lighting conditions do not degrade the contrast as with typical LCDs, but only improve it. The viewability of ChLCDs in low ambient lighting conditions is outstanding as well. Extremely wide viewing angles are achieved compared to conventional polarizer based displays such as TN, TFT active matrix and STN LCDs. ChLCDs are also flicker free and thus have very low eyestrain even while viewing for extended periods of time.

o An image will be maintained on the Cholesteric display - indefinitely - without ANY power consumption. Power is only required to change the image. Other display technologies require constant power consumption to maintain an image
